When I stepped into my role as Social Media Director, BG Falcon Media was struggling with low engagement, reach, and follower growth. Through a combination of strategic content creation, trend-driven campaigns, and audience engagement techniques, I helped drive significant growth. Under my leadership, our Instagram saw a substantial increase in engagement, with posts reaching a wider audience than ever before. By analyzing insights and optimizing our content strategy, I was able to elevate our social media presence and expand our follower base.
Meme Campaign Success
One of the biggest shifts in our strategy was incorporating meme-based content to better connect with our audience. I launched three highly successful meme campaigns— the Taylor Swift Meme Campaign, the Guy with a Sign Meme Campaign, and the BGSU vs. UT Rivalry Campaign—all of which utilized trending content to drive engagement. These campaigns not only increased interactions but also positioned BG Falcon Media as a fun and relatable platform for students.
Collaboration & Strategy
Social media success doesn’t happen in isolation, and I worked closely with multiple teams across BG Falcon Media to ensure our content was both engaging and relevant. I led weekly meetings with a team of 5-8 members, where we brainstormed content ideas, reviewed analytics, and refined strategies. Additionally, I trained and mentored social media interns, providing them with guidance on best practices for content creation and audience engagement. I also coordinated with executives from other departments, including news and sports, to ensure our social media presence effectively promoted and complemented their work.
When I started, the reach was 8,200 and engagement was just 14. By the end of my time, reach grew to 51,300, engagement skyrocketed to 16,400, and followers increased by 21.2%. Content interactions also saw a 505% increase.

Team Leadership & Intern Training
I led weekly meetings with a team of 5-8 interns, where we brainstormed content ideas, discussed upcoming campaigns, and refined strategies. I also trained the interns on creating engaging content, writing copy, and understanding social media best practices. Through hands-on guidance, I empowered them to take ownership of specific content pieces and contributed to the overall content calendar, helping the team produce high-quality posts and maintain a consistent brand voice.
Using Scheduling Platforms
I developed a content calendar that outlined important event dates and designated posting schedules, ensuring that the team adhered to a consistent content strategy. To further streamline the process, I utilized Hey Orca, a social media scheduling platform, to review and approve posts ahead of time. This allowed me to refine captions and ensure alignment with our brand’s voice and objectives, while maintaining a structured and organized workflow for the team to execute the content plan effectively.
